Coleman O’Toole
Coleman hails from just outside of Chicago (technically, he's from Indiana, which is why he had to escape in the first place). After sampling life in New York City, Kentucky, and Florida, he somehow ended up in Ohio (which he is finding to be lovely, thus far).
Through a metamorphosis starting as a speech & debate nerd in high school to a theater dilettante in college, Coleman finally found a calling in comedy.
His education began while he was living it up in New York City, where he took improv and sketch writing classes at Magnet Theater while surviving the TV post-production hustle. He has learned sketch from some incredibly talented writers, including Armando Diaz (of "The Armando Diaz Experience"), Beth Newell (Reductress), Michael Hartney (UCB / Squirrel Comedy Theater), Rich Talarico (MadTV / SNL / Key & Peele), Brian Parise (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver) and Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall). Later, Coleman was thrilled to introduce the wonders of sketch to Spitfire Comedy House in St. Petersburg, Florida.
In addition to learning sketch comedy writing, Coleman has taken a storytelling class with Adam Wade (a 20 time Story Slam winner at The Moth) as well as multiple levels of improvisational comedy at both Magnet Theater and Spitfire Comedy House. A huge fan of both short-form and long-form improv, Coleman is a versatile player and enthusiastic performer. Over time, Coleman became interested in teaching improv drop-in courses at Spitfire Comedy House (and did so for well over a year).
Coleman loves parenthesis (if you couldn't already tell) and refuses to stop using them (as it might hurt their feelings (maybe)).
